Safety Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: ?
This position will manage all aspects of safety, loss control and non-financial risk management for the North Division, including regulatory compliance, incident investigation, employee safety education, and facility inspections.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:


The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.

  • Advise executive and facility management of environmental health and safety exposures and recommend actions to eliminate or mitigate risk.


?



  • Develop / supply / update materials to be used for all safety/risk, OSHA and DOT education for new / current employees.???


?



  • Develop safety programs and standards and recommends safety equipment and personal protective equipment for specific jobs involving hazardous materials.


?



  • Assist in the hazard evaluation of buildings / equipment to determine protective measures to take to get into compliance with local, state and / or federal standards.


?



  • Review and investigate all injuries and vehicle collisions to determine cause and recommend corrective measures with department Supervisors and Managers.


?



  • Educate Managers to specifically help them understand their role in safety and loss prevention and how losses negatively affect P&L performance.


?



  • Develop and implement facility emergency planning systems for business continuity planning including disaster planning, flood emergency plans, etc.


?



  • Conduct periodic inspections of facilities to ensure compliance.? Document and communicate findings to all designated parties.


?



  • Suggest the benefits of and help to formulate local Safety Committees including the start-up process and guidance on implementation.


?



  • Oversee all DOT regulatory area functions including Driver Qualification Files, MVR checks, on-boarding process and driver education.


?



  • Oversight of all health-related issues such as noise reduction programs, respiratory protection and ergonomic programs.


?



  • Provide interpretations on safety and health regulations and requirements under OSHA /ANSI / NFPA / DOT / EPA.


?



  • Apply safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to individual situations to advise or resolve technical matters dealing with those requirements.


?



  • Participate in all regulatory agency inspections, especially when violations are found.?

Risk Management Responsibilities


?



  • Identify and measure all exposures to loss via recognized risk reduction methodology.


?



  • Administer contractor control program including maintenance of all incoming and outgoing certificates of insurance.


?



  • Coordinate all inspections and issues related to FM Global (property carrier) including partnering with FM loss control agents for issues related to property inspections


?



  • Develop and institute risk management plans relating to highly hazardous chemicals and conditions including ammonia and chlorine


?



  • Work with property and casualty carriers, as well as insurance broker to ensure acceptable delivery of loss control and prevention services.


?



  • Coordinate and deliver the private vehicle insurance program (for NY) to ensure those who use their own vehicles carry the minimum level of insurance.

Claim Management Responsibilities


?



  • Directly and / or in an advisory capacity, act as the legal liaison where legal actions have been brought against the company resulting from General Liability or Auto Claims.


?



  • Ensure best practices are executed with oversight from HR department.


?



  • Secure and review accident trend reports from broker and distribute to members of the organization such as dashboard and quarterly reports.


?



  • Development of the Employee Intervention program for employees who are involved in repeat WC & AL events.


?



  • Provide assistance to internal legal & risk teams and outside counsel upon request.


Required:


?


?????????? Bachelor?s Degree in related field and 5 years of safety management experience.


?????????? Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.


?????????? Previous experience in union environment.


?


Preferred:


?


? ??? Related safety training credentials or ISHM/BCSCP certification.


? ??? Experience working in a warehouse & manufacturing environment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
